Fresh garden vegetables …

Fresh beets and carrots looks just right under the natural light. I took this shot one late afternoon and at the time I wasn’t really sure how it will come out … I’m pretty happy with the results.

I like the way food (especially raw) look under natural light. In the last couple of years I was playing a lot with various artificial sources that looks and feels like diffused natural light. Although I was able to come pretty close, the real deal is quite hard to imitate. This particular photo was taken with Canon EOS 5D and Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens. I think I shot carrots wide open (f/2.8) and beets were captured at f/5.

The vegetables were placed on a regular wooden cutting board. I moved the entire setup (shooting table and props) close to the window and I diffused the light with very transparent white fabric.
